Hiking on Mount Pilatus

IMPORTANT: In spring, many hiking trails on Pilatus are still covered in snow. Hikes to Pilatus Kulm are not recommended until the Pilatus Putzete (21 June 2025).

 

Hiking for families, groups, alpine hikers and senior citizens

Everyone enjoys hiking Mt Pilatus. It is a fascinating journey of discovery. The paths range from easy to alpine, thus offering appropriate routes for experienced mountain hikers, families, schools, groups and nature lovers. Careful planning is always important before you get started: more

– The section of the Pilatus-Alpnachstad trail between Grossrüti and Chli Durren will remain closed until further notice. The reason is a rockfall.
– Also the «Gsäss» trail will remain closed until further notice.

Offers

Various guided hikes are available in the Pilatus region. The highlight is the sunrise hike including breakfast on Pilatus Kulm. Other options are offered by the hiking trail associations Lucerne / Nidwalden / Obwalden. These hikes are usually free of charge and a membership is not required.

From darkness, through twilight, to a spectacular sunrise at 2132 metres above sea level.

Bus Alpin

The Bus Alpin takes hikers from Alpnach Dorf to Alp Lütholdsmatt four times a day on selected dates. Reservations can be made via app. Seats are limited.
