19 October – 27 November 2026: Gondolas and cable car closed due to maintenance work. Access only possible by cogwheel railway from Alpnachstad.

The panorama gondolas and cable car from Kriens to Pilatus Kulm will be closed from 19 October to 27 November 2026. During this period, the only way to reach Mt Pilatus is by cogwheel railway from Alpnachstad.

Due to the major 12-yearly overhaul of the ‘Dragon Ride’ cable car, this year’s overhaul will take six weeks rather than just three. The extensive work includes, amongst other things, the overhaul of the drive mechanism and the repositioning of the suspension cables. To carry this out, both cabins must be unhooked and lowered to the ground.
