Frequently asked questions about our tickets
Which travelcards are valid?
With the SBB General Abonnement or Half-Fare travelcard, you can travel at half price. Please note: Municipal day passes, special offer day passes and any other SBB savings offers and day passes are not valid!
Holders of the following passes also receive a discount*: Eurail (50%), Interrail (50%), Swiss Travel Pass (50%) and Tell Pass (free travel).
* only applies to the routes between Kriens/Alpnachstad - Pilatus - Kriens/Alpnachstad
Can I go straight through the turnstile with my SBB ticket?
All SBB online tickets can be scanned directly at the turnstile. Physical tickets must be exchanged at the box office beforehand.
Can I get off at the intermediate stations on the way to Pilatus?
Yes, on the way to or from Pilatus you can make a stopover at the Krienseregg and Fräkmüntegg intermediate stations and get off and on again.
Does my dog need a ticket?
A ticket must be purchased for dogs over 30cm in height. Smaller dogs travel free of charge provided they are carried in locked cages, baskets or other suitable objects. Service dogs and service dogs in training (e.g. guide dogs for the blind or avalanche search dogs) also travel free of charge with the appropriate ID.
Are the SBB Junior Travelcard and Carpool Travelcard valid?
Yes, with the SBB Junior or Co-travelcard, children travel free when accompanied by an adult.
Is the day ticket valid?
No, day tickets are not valid on the Pilatus. However, with a Half-Fare travelcard or GA travelcard you can travel at half price.
Is there a group discount?
Groups of 10 people or more receive a 30% discount on route tickets. The discount is only available on site on the day of travel. Groups can be registered via our Customer Service.
Is the Bernese Oberland Pass valid?
No, the Bernese Oberland Pass is not valid on the Pilatus.
