1. Tomlishornweg / Flower Trail (easy), June to October
Walk the Flower Trail through the wildflowers on the Pilatus. Countless species find their spot despite wind and weather. Sometimes rooted a meter deep, they blossom and bloom. Signs along the path provide information on plant species, blooming periods and Latin nomenclature.
2. Krienseregg-Schönenboden-Fräkmüntegg (easy), all year round
Quite comfortable mountain hike through a beautiful forest area, which is ideal for a hot summer day. From the middle station of Krienseregg, the slightly ascending mountain path leads to Roteflue with a magnificent view of the Alpine foothills (Stanserhorn and Titlis), Schönenboden and the Emmental Alps. The Schönenboden Hut of the Alpine Friends Pilatus is hosted every Saturday and Sunday. On the Trümmelegg, the route leads uphill along the cantonal border of Lucerne/Nidwalden to the Fräkmüntegg station.
3. Fräkmüntegg-Heitertannliweg-Klimsen-Pilatus Kulm (difficult), June to October
This quite short but ascent intensive mountain hike leads from the mountain station Fräkmüntegg over the Heitertannliweg and over the Klimsensattel up to the Pilatus Kulm (2,119 m). On the way you cross the cantonal borders of Lucerne and Nidwalden as well as those of Nidwalden and Obwalden. Once at the top, there is a fabulous view of the surrounding peaks of the Central Switzerland Prealps.
4. Alpnachstad-Ämsigen-Pilatus Kulm (demanding), June to October
This classic and conditionally demanding hike leads along the steepest rack railway in the world, which was opened in 1889 in Canton Obwalden, to Pilatus Kulm (2,106 m). The varied terrain usually offers great views of Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountains of Central Switzerland.
5. Dragon Moor Path (easy), all year round
Experience the world of moors, mosses, streams and meadows. On our circular route you will learn all kinds of interesting facts about the history, flora and fauna around Pilatus. Enjoy the protected high moor with all your senses. Even with your feet you can discover a lot on our barefoot trail.
